The two fireplaces provide a cozy and relaxing atmosphere for the perfect vacation. The Summit House in Wawona is truly an incomparable setting in which to enjoy the extraordinary beauty of Yosemite National Park.
Location
Five miles from the south entrance to Yosemite National Park, within the park boundaries, is the quiet, quaint community of Wawona. This was the first stopping place for the earliest stagecoach visitors to this wondrous area. The historic Wawona Hotel, built in the 1890\'s, serves as a reminder of days gone by. The old pioneer village, which features rustic homes and pioneer activities, runs along the south fork of the Merced River. It is here that you can horseback ride, enjoy a ranch style cookout, ride in an old stagecoach, or square dance in the barn. And from this special area it is an easy drive to the Mariposa Grove of giant sequoia trees, Badger Pass ski area, Glacier Point and the Valley floor.
