The sun almost always shines brightly in Tucson, a resort city where the visitor will find golf courses and guest ranches, attractions to visit and natural wonders to explore, and excellent restaurants specializing in the local cuisine.
On the University of Arizona campus, you can visit a wide variety of museums and galleries. The Arizona State Museum focuses on Native American cultures of the Southwest and northern Mexico. Exhibits range from traditional colorful, hand-carved Mexican dance masks to "Paths of Life: American Indians of the Southwest," the design of which is the result of much tribal input and assistance.
The University of Arizona Museum of Art offers a wide variety of paintings and sculptures, including works by Picasso, O'Keeffe, Rodin, Pollock, and Rothko. Also on campus is the Center for Creative Photography, a museum and research center dedicated to presenting photography as art. The center offers a changing array of exhibitions drawn from its permanent collections.
Tucson's Reid Park is a good place to spend some time in the outdoors. The park has swimming pools, tennis courts, a community band shell, a formal rose garden, two 18 hole golf courses, and Reid Park Zoo, with over 400 animals. The zoo is actively involved in captive breeding and is doing everything it can to save the giant anteater from extinction. Laslty, be sure to take a trip out of the city, southwest on the Mission Road, to the Mission San Xavier del Bac. The mission is considered one of the most exquisite examples of Spanish mission architecture in the country.
