Harrison is the perfect launching point for a variety of day trips around northern Michigan. Pick the perfect spot to stay: from a cabin in the woods to an elegant bed and breakfast to a comfortable motel room to a fully furnished housekeeping cottage on a lake. Use that as the perfect place to settle in and take your sightseeing trips from there.
See "THE" bridge. The city about two hours from the Mackinaw Bridge and the beautiful Straits of Mackinaw. If you've never crossed Big Mac, you're in for a thrill. Be sure to take the ferry to Mackinaw Island, even if you only have a couple of hours to shop. It doesn't take long to find that fabulous Island Fudge. There is a fort in Mackinaw City; they do enactments of early settlement life and offer an historical perspective on Michigan. The "Soo" Locks are worth a visit, too.
Visit the Great Lakes. The city is 2-3 hours from Lake Michigan shore destinations to the west and about the same distance to Lake Huron lakefronts to the east. You'll find long piers out to deep water in many places on both Great Lakes if you want to try your hand at catching the big ones. Visit the car ferries in Ludington or the beach in Muskegon. Buy smoked fish and homemade cheeses in the Saginaw Bay area. Go antique shopping in Bay City.
