The scenery in Iowa is as lovely as any
other in this region of the country. Ancient glaciers
have left cliffs and hills and there are Indian burial
mounds in the shapes of animals. Perhaps Iowa's most popular
spot is the Amana Colonies that illustrate a very interesting
story from the state's past.
The Mississippi River provides for some
beautiful vistas as well. Additionally, there are little
towns up and down the river that are a must stop for visitors
to this state. In these towns, there are old river front
hotels, quaint little churches and historic town centers.
The Great River Road runs along the Mississippi River
and takes the travelers through hills, bluffs and caves.
A very important part of life in Iowa
is the annual fair or festival held in
almost every single town across the state. The theme
for most fairs is generally agricultural but there is
the National Hobo Convention that meets each summer in
Britt. Other fairs include the Iowa State Fair, the Dutch
and Norwegian celebrations and Pella Tulip Time Festival.
