The first thought of Kansas might bring images of the deadly, dirty, dry and desolate western town out in the middle of nowhere. This image is not quite accurate anymore however. The modern day Kansas is filled with activities of every kind, even water activities, which isn't expected from a state that used to be one of the driest in the Nation. Water sports are very popular in the numerous reservoirs and lakes that are now found in Kansas. Travelers can camp, play any number of sports and enjoy some lovely golf courses in Kansas.

In addition to camping and water sports, there is exceptional hunting available in Kansas and there are also very nice horse and dog tracks for visitors to enjoy. The old trails still run through this state and pass the modern day structures and the trails continue to lead to the same

place they led years and years ago. Some of the more famous trails are the Chisholm Trail, the Oregon Trail, the Pony Express Route and the Santa Fe Trail.

Along these trails there are forts, towns and of course glimpses into the real Wild West. The Wild West is mostly preserved in Dodge City, Cimarron Crossing and Goodland where visitors can relive the dangerous and exciting days of times past.
