Kentucky might be most famous for the
world-renowned Kentucky Derby, which attracts thousands
of spectators every May. Kentucky is also known as the
Bluegrass State due to the popular plant that grows throughout
the state. The term Bluegrass has also become associated

system located at this park is the longest in the world.
Daniel Boone National Forest is found in the eastern
part of the state and is the perfect location for any
number of outdoor activities. Other natural attractions
in this area are Cumberland Gap, Big South Fork National
River and Recreational Area and Railway tours and Cumberland
Falls. Western Kentucky by contrast is the location for
water enthusiasts. This region is home to many bodies
of water and is home to two of the largest man made lakes
