The first thought of Louisiana brings
into a person's mind the famous city of New Orleans. This
great city represents the south and its rich heritage
and promising future. The French Quarter, with the many
gardens, historic buildings, iron balconies, shops, museums
and restaurants, has lured visitors to the city for many
years and will continue to do so for the years to come.
Perhaps one of the most famous stops is Café du Monde,
which serves its beignets and café au laits to thousands
of people every day. The museum named Cabildo is where
the Louisiana Purchase was signed and executed. Guided
toursof the Quarter are available but it is best seen
with a self-guided walking tour.
Mardi Gras is another single event that
seems to make Louisiana so popular. In addition to Mardi
Gras

however, there are several other annual events, including
New Orleans Jazz Festival and the New Orleans Spring Fiesta.
Lastly, visitors must tour the Garden District of New
Orleans and see the historic mansions. Most can be seen
from the St. Charles Street line, which is a great way
to see the mansions at a quicker pace.
Louisiana has much more to offer than just New Orleans.
Other highlights include the plantations and antebellum
homes near Natchitoches and Saint Francisville. Visitors
can experience the flourishing Cajun culture in the Lafayette
area. Lastly, there is a lot to see and do in the capital
of Baton Rouge.
