Maryland

Maryland might not be a very large state,
but it packs quite a delight for its size. The state is
full of wilderness, famous battlefields, seaside resorts
and historic landmarks. Perhaps the most famous battlefield
is Antietam, where one of the bloodiest and most important
battles of the Civil War took place. The city of Baltimore
is home to many of the state's historical sites; For McHenry
where Francis Scott Key was inspired to write the "Star
Spangled Banner", the Edgar Allen Poe House and the
Babe Ruth Birthplace.
In addition to being the home for the
United States Naval Academy, Annapolis offers many historic
sites. Not far away is Maryland's Ocean City, a ten mile
stretch of beach that offers sandy beaches, shopping and
plenty of restaurants. A little further south will bring
you to the

Assateague Island National Seashore, a large expanse
of undeveloped seashore that is home to many different
types of wildlife.
There are two events in Maryland that tend to be the
most popular; the Preakness Festival and Race brings horse
racing fans from across the country to the state and the
Waterfowl Festival in November has become extremely popular.
