It is no secret that Michigan is the automobile
capital of the United States. But you might not realize
that Michigan has over 18 million acres of forest and
7 million acres of public land for visitors to explore
and enjoy. Michigan also has over 3,000 miles of coastline
due to its location amongst the Great Lakes.
Inland there are thousands of lakes and
waterways where visitors can experience every type of
water adventure imaginable. Some of the water inland is
of the frozen variety and Michigan prides itself as being
the skiing capital of the Midwest. A very popular hobby
in the Lower Peninsula skiing area is snowmobiling.
The fall is very pleasing to the eyes in Michigan.
The hardwoods are painted in vibrant colors, the lakes
glisten in the evening sun and hills
seem to roll off into the distance. Michigan is also
home to more public golf courses than any other state.
The Leelanau Peninsula is the location of some of the
state's most beautiful terrain.
In contrast to the beautiful countryside stands the large
city of Detroit. There are more sites and events to see
in Detroit than the average visitor can even imagine.
Visitors can tour the Henry Ford museum, ride the antique
trolley or explore the Renaissance Center.
