The Land of Lakes is so dubbed thanks
to over 12,000 lakes, streams and rivers found within
this state. Outdoor activities include fishing, camping,
hiking and hunting. The northern part of the state is
especially wonderful for this type of outdoor, natural
pursuits. Along the natural vein, Minnesota celebrates
annually its logging and timber heritage through many
festivals. According to the Minnesota travel guide there
are currently over 1,000 such festivals or fairs throughout
the year.
The antithesis of the great outdoors is
the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. This area
is becoming increasingly well known as a center for computer
production and technology research. The world renowned
Mayo Clinic is located in Rochester. These large cities
demonstrate the happy medium between the state's natural
beauty and thriving economy.

Some of the more adventurous visitors can find some excitement
in the northern part of the state along the Canadian border.
This area is known for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area
Wilderness and Voyageurs National Park near International
Falls. However, the incredible Mall of America is available
to those visitors who wish to remain a little closer to
modern civilization.
