The Evergreen State is truly that, always
green from rainfall. The rain is mostly contained to the
Puget Sound area by the Cascade Range Mountains. In other
parts of the state there are hundreds of lakes, woods
filled with pines, the Columbia River, Grand Coulee Dam
and the famous Mount St. Helens. However, the main pull
to this state is the Puget Sound area.
Mt. Rainier stands in the background overlooking
the Sound's islands, bays and channels. Seattle is the
main population and cultural hub for Washington. In fact,
there are three national parks close by to Seattle, they
are Rainier, North Cascades and Olympic. Canada is very
close from this area and trips to local ski areas are
available as well. When the weather is right, there are
daily trips to British Columbia. The San Juan Islands
are also beautiful and provide a great vacation destination.

Virtually everywhere in the state, visitors can see the
mountains and the adventure that they hold. State parks
serve as campgrounds and base camps for those wanting
to explore the mountains. The wine industry is growing
in this area and there are tours of all the local wineries.
Fishing and boating is also popular in this area. There
is an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors in Washington
no matter where a visitor decides to set up camp.
